Hi Jessica, tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m a lifestyle influencer and entrepreneur with my own activewear line. I'm also a wife and stepmom, and I’m expecting my first baby any day now (so by the time you read this, I might already be a mom!).

What made you want to build a gallery wall for your home?

My husband and I have been in our home for about a year and a half, and time has flown by! I’ve spent so much time decorating each space, but somehow, hanging up photos always got pushed to the side. With all the monumental moments we’ve had recently, it was the perfect time to bring those memories to life.

Tell us about your vision for the room: Why a gallery wall? Take us through other components or details of the room that tie everything together and make it feel most like “you.”

I envisioned a sleek and modern gallery wall to complement our home’s minimalist design. A gallery wall was the perfect way to incorporate special memories, like our wedding, maternity photos, and baby shower. It’s all about creating a space that feels like us, and the gallery wall ties everything together beautifully.

Let’s dive into the details of your gallery wall! How did you decide what style to go with?

Since our home features a modern and minimalist aesthetic with a palette of whites, creams, and black accents, I wanted the gallery wall to align with that vibe. I chose frames and layouts that felt clean and cohesive, enhancing the sleekness of the space.

How was your experience working with our Design Services to curate your gallery wall?

Working with Artifact Uprising’s Design Services was amazing! The process was straightforward, and they were incredibly attentive to my vision and needs. I loved that I could give my input and make suggestions throughout the process, and they made sure every detail aligned with my vision. What was your reaction when you saw the completed gallery wall hung up in your home for the first time?

I was over the moon! It’s something I’ve wanted for so long, and seeing it all come together so perfectly was a dream come true.

What advice do you have for someone with an empty wall in their home that they want to transform, but are too overwhelmed with where to start?

We are so excited to be offering Design Services for gallery walls! Can you share a little bit about the process of designing a gallery wall?

We are so excited to offer this service, finally. You start with an Account Manager who will begin by gathering your vision for the wall. What space in your house will it be displayed? What’s your design style? How many frames are you hoping to include?

Once we get an idea of what you are looking for, your Account Manager will assign your wall to one of our in-house Design Specialists. They mock up a few options to look through that are close to scale for your space (they’ll even mock it up on a photo of your wall if you provide one), and you work closely with them to refine until you love the design. When it’s approved, the final frames (with chosen finishes, sizes, and images) are all added to your cart, ready to purchase. We will provide a hanging guide that’s unique to your final design to help measure things once the frames arrive!

Gallery walls only allow for so many photos to be utilized. How do you help people curate their final selects to match their vision and have a sense of timelessness?

Because you can only fit so many photos on a single wall, I like to prioritize selecting photos that work well together. You don’t have to use flawless professional photos in order to create a beautiful story! I like to choose cohesive photos in terms of color scheme, which helps to create a look that is timeless and inspiring to your overall space.

Let’s talk about Jessica’s gallery wall. What was her vision, and how were you able to help her bring everything together?

Jessica was open to displaying a larger quantity of photos — we landed on 12 total! There was a mix of wedding portraits and maternity photos, with 3-4 different locations highlighted. I knew infusing cohesion into the story would help unite all the photos together, despite the larger quantity! We did this by using the same frame style throughout, and by using a symmetrical grid layout. The different groupings of photos are split up throughout the design to create a look that is dynamic and pleasing to the eye. The end result tells a beautiful story of family!

As a designer, what advice do you have for someone with an empty wall in their home that they want to transform, but are too overwhelmed with where to start?

Let us help you! But in all seriousness, it becomes digestible when you focus on one theme. You probably have thousands of photos that you feel are worthy of precious wall space! But what is one story you are most excited about displaying? Is it all of your best travel photos from all of those national park camping trips, or your very favorite wedding shots, or all of your child’s first-day-of-school photos? Then, let the photos inspire the space. What frames and layout best compliment the colors and themes present in your photos? You can’t lose when you focus on what is most important to YOU!
