Growing up, my extended family lived too far away for all of us to gather for Thanksgiving dinners. Instead, we gathered around a table with my parents’ creative community—designers, architects, photographers—our own mix of chosen family. Part of the holiday tradition was rotating houses every year, each family sharing their own unique dishes, their entertaining stories, and their best drawing skills for our annual game of Pictionary.

Whether gathered with friends or family, it’s these shared moments that bookmark our lives. The moments when we’re able to slow down and sit around a table, to eat good food, to listen and laugh, to pause long enough to make a memory, or to continue a tradition.

Perhaps for you, today marks the beginning of a new tradition, or maybe it marks another chapter in a long line of time-honored practices. Whatever this day brings, we hope it’s filled with slow moments—moments you want to capture and look back on.
